Before anyone ever started talking about Queer Theory, they knew the term Queer Nation. This were those who wanted you to know they are here to get the rights they deserve and they're not leaving 'till they do. Although in the 1980s there was a mini-queer renaissance going on and they decided Queer Theory was a better name for it.. Since it really is just a theory. We want to know what this community is all about but all we can do is have ideas. The LGBT community is constantly changing, so we will never really have a solid definition
"While some critics insist that queer theory is apolitical word-smithery, de Lauretis, Butler, and Sedgwick take seriously the role that signs and symbols play in shaping the meanings and possibilities of our culture at the most basic level, including politics conventionally defined."
